Capture stunning images of the large herds of elephants and zebras as they roam through the dusty plains. Photograph expansive views filled with giraffes and other exotic African wildlife, with Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop. You will not only capture iconic images, but you will also be reminded of an authentic Africa of days gone by.
At the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, dust devils dance across the vast open pains of Amboseli National Park. A place of big skies, dramatic clouds, and far horizons, it is a fine art wildlife photographers dream location. During the dry season, when Amboseli’s swamplands are the only source of water for miles, concentrated numbers of wildlife gravitate to these life-staining refuges. The densely packed herds attract an array of predators, including cheetah, lion, hyena and the rare leopard.
The image of big-tusked elephants or tower of giraffe, set against the backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro, has made it one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes. It is estimated that over 1,000 elephants and 58 matriarchal families trample over this barren wilderness. The real mystery of Amboseli lies in its unique ability to transform itself throughout the day, from blue skies, to dramatic clouds, to fierce dust storms causing a complete white out.
ITINERARY
Day 1 August 20, 2016
Arrive in Nairobi, and be transported to your hotel along the Nairobi National Park.
Day 2 August 21, 2016
You will meet in the main dining room for breakfast and have a safari briefing before hopping into your Land Cruisers, and departing for Amboseli National Reserve.
We will game drive to our beautifully styled African lodge centrally located in the reserve. Arriving in time for a late lunch, you will have time to relax and settle in before our first game drive.
Day 3 & 4 August 22 & 23, 2016
Rise early for a quick cup of coffee and biscuits, before heading out for our morning game drive. In the morning, the herds slowly begin to come down from the mountains and cross the plains of Amboseli on their way to the marshes, centrally located in the national park. Our focus here will be to capture these amazing herds with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. We will return to our beautiful lodge, located next to the marsh area where the herds gather during the day and have lunch. There will be time to relax, lie by the pool, or download images before heading out on our afternoon game drive.
We return to lodge in the evening and meet for famous sundowners, overlooking the plains of Amboseli and exchanging exciting stories of what we experienced that day.
Day 5 August 24, 2016
Rise early for a quick cup of coffee and biscuits before heading out for our morning game drive. We will return to the lodge for breakfast, and check out. We will game drive out of the park and arrive back to Nairobi in the late afternoon. Those ending their safaris will have dayrooms to rest and clean up before transferring to the airport for their departure flights home. Those continuing to the Big Cats Safari will relax for the evening and meet up with the group at breakfast.
The Cost
The cost of this photo safari is $2,495.00 per person.
The price is based on double occupancy; single room supplement is $495.00, if available. If a solo guest is unwilling to share, and requests single accommodations upon registration, then a single supplement will be charged. If you are a solo guest who is willing to share accommodations, we will do our best to match you with another guest of the same gender. If we are unable to match you with another solo guest of the same gender, then the single supplement will be charged, up to, but not exceeding the fee of the single supplement. In this case, whenever possible, we will try to discount the single supplement.

The group size for this incredible photo safari is limited to only 8 photographers. This extension is offered between two safaris. Since the group size is small, it could fill extremely fast.
