Atlas of Humanity – Group Exhibit

I’m deeply honored to be one of the 70 international photographers featured in the upcoming Atlas of Humanity exhibit in Milan. From September 27 to 29, 2024, the Atlas of Humanity will be part of ImageNation Milan 2024. Now in its 11th edition and curated by Martin Vegas, this exhibition brings together photographers from around the world to celebrate the rich diversity of ethnic cultures. The portraits and everyday moments captured offer a rare glimpse into the fading traditions of communities striving to preserve their heritage in a rapidly changing world.

The image was created on the Signature Suri Expedition

Some of the most beautiful tribes on the African continent live deep in southern Ethiopia. Inspired by their environment of wild trees, exotic flowers, and lush vegetation, these tribes use the clay soil of bright yellows, startling whites, and rich earth reds to paint each other’s bodies. They make bold decisions about their outfits’ hand-crafted from animal skins and decorated with beads, feathers, and shells.

Revered as a living museum by anthropologists, these tribes transform into a walking canvas of art and captivate photographers with their visually stunning presence. Yet, beyond the captivating photographs always lies an epic journey of discovery, which continues to draw me back year after year.

    Piper,
Your inclusion in this exhibit is so well-deserved. You not only capture the denotation of the moment and the place, but you capture what you feel AND the essence of your subjects. Well done.
