Two online sessions and optional hands on session
ARE YOU FEELING STAGNATE IN YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY?
After photographing across Africa for over a decade I had NOT lost my passion for its wildlife and tribes, but I was feeling stagnate in my creativity. The discovery of infrared rejuvenated my vision and was the perfect tool to retrace my footprints and capture RAW Africa as I had first experienced it.
We have created a unique 3 part series so you may choose to go as deep as wish; attend 1 or all 3!

Do you have a curiosity about Infrared Photography? Are you considering entering the magical world of Infrared Photography? Join Piper Mackay – African Wildlife and Tribal photographer and Mark – Founder of Creative Photo Academy and owner of Paul’s Photo, for an inspirational evening (ONLINE) where they will discuss what drew them into this beautiful style of photography.
Both Piper Mackay and Mark Canon both have the same camera body and same conversion, used the same company to make the conversion, yet their artistic vision and final product are completely different.
On the evening of May 14, 2021 we will both be in the Creative Academy Studio sharing our journeys into infrared, our work in infrared, and how it change our vision in the way we captured the world, but we will be sharing it with you ONLINE so everyone can be safe!

SHORTEN YOUR LEARNING CURVE!! – May 15, 9AM – 12 PM Pacific time (ONLINE and recorded for viewing up to 72 hours)
As with any new venture, there is usually a much higher learning curve than we realize when we first jump into something new. It has taken me over three years, through four conversions of different models, brands, lenses, and several post-production software programs to be able to finally create a body of high quality fine art photographs with IR. Therefore, to shorten your own learning curve or for you to test out the technology before you make a big investment into converting a camera, we have put together a hands on IR workshop.
On Saturday morning, again ONLINE, for everyone to enjoy safely Piper and Mark will be discussing the follow topics:
- What camera body to choose for conversion and why
- What lenses work best and why
- Image comparisons between camera models and lenses
- What filter to chose and why
- The importance of setting a custom white balance
- Understanding IR light – how to read it
- Two separate ways to easily to post process IR
- Quality time for a group discussion and Q&A.

TAKE A TEST DRIVE May 16, 1-4 PM – Hands on – LIMITED
Mark at Paul’s Photo has arranged to have some IR converted Nikon Z7 and Z6’s available to test.
We will be going out to test and play with this creative process, where you will be able to get behind the camera and see the magic!!
I promise that a small investment of your time and money up front to test an IR camera, and learn about the creative process hands on will save you a ton of frustration, time, and money later by only rolling the dice and kicking the tires, learning it all by trial and error on your own!
