One of the wonderful bonuses of living in Kenya is having easy access to the 42 wonderful reserves. When I start hearing the murmurings of new hot spots, I can easily plan a quick scouting trip!
In the last few years many of the private conservancies, which have very low vehicle density, have focused on creating new over the top photographic opportunities such as state of the art photographic hides, helicopter photography, night photography, and low angle eye-to-eye photography. The Africa Wildlife Extreme Safari, one of the special 10-year celebration safaris, is right around the corner and was designed to offer just these opportunities.
Next week our whole team will head out to put our boots on the ground to visit an area becoming increasingly popular to photographers around the globe, Laikipia. We will be scouting 7 locations including Loisaba, currently the home of the BLACK LEOPARD and a secret authentic unique tribal area. Not only will we evaluate the photographic opportunities but we will also visit all the camps in the reserve so we can hand craft the best experience.
Dominic will be with us documenting our journey and you can follow our adventure here and here.
Planning new safaris is as exciting as being on them! As it is said, “Dressing for the party can be more exciting than the party.” The last few years, with all the challenges of the pandemic and running so many postponed trips, it was just not possible to scout and plan. I feel a rebirth finally being able to freely be excited about seeking out new destinations not only in Kenya, but throughout Africa!
Hope to see in this magical part of the world soon and wishing you a most wonderful 2023!
