Exclusively Botswana beyond the beauty Part 1

Why is Botswana so exceptional beyond the photographic opportunities that exist on both land and water? The exclusivity.  The excitement begins as one flies over Botswana and sees the vast pristine wilderness with hardly any development outside of a few small towns.

Botswana runs a strict low-volume tourism policy by limiting the number of camps and tourist to any one area at any one time; this is to ensure their wildlife and natural resources are protected.  This is also why it is such a highly sought-out premier destination by photographers; there are less vehicles allowing for higher photographic opportunities and overall experience.  This year was particularly special because Botswana had only recently opened and it was as if we had it all to ourselves; in our small lodges we did!

We began our safari in a private reserve along the deltas. This allowed us to responsibly go off road for better positioning and to continue our drives into the evening for night photography.

Breakfast in the bush is all part of a beautiful safari experience, but mostly it allows us to leave before daybreak, spending the best light hours photographing and stopping when there is a break in the action, or we are starving!

Our second location is in a stunning dry open and dusty environment, which provides great backgrounds environmentally and is even more fantastic for portraits.  During the dry season, when we are there, the water holes are the source of life drawing in all the wildlife in the reserve. This year the lion action, love and war, was brilliant.

Since I was unsure if I could put 50 images in one blog post I have broken this up into separate post and part two will be coming shortly.  I am also not sure how this new format will translate when the post is sent by email to the subscribers.

If you would like more information on the locations, you can view that here
