After many weeks of security delays, GPA Omo Valley is finally preparing to depart Addis!
We are also very excited that the project is being highly supported by the board of tourism and they are sponsoring the team with security during the entire trip.
I want to give a huge thank you to my long term partners Grand Holidays. It has been an extraordinary amount of work to coordinate the team, logistics, board of tourism, supplies, truck rental, etc. I also want to thank all of you for your overwhelming generosity to make this special project happen.
Once again we were able to have beautiful mask made from local African fabrics.
With the extra time in Addis we were able to make special hands free washing stations. Not only are they important for the COVID-19, but to help the spread of many other communicable diseases. Below is a short clip of the washing stations, sanitizer and soap we will be distributing to 12 villages.
Below is Des, the owner of Grand Holidays (totally exhausted) showing how the hands free watering stations work.
Due to your amazing generosity we actually have two large trucks going to the Omo, full of supplies.
It will take our caravan two full days to arrive in the Omo and the entire project will be 8 days, multiple territories, and 12 villages. The team will be sending clips and photo’s when they have network and I will be sharing them on Facebook. Upon their return I will post a full report of the project and journey.
I just watched documentary “Omo Child” and noticed it was made some years ago. I wondered if organization is still in existence and active. And if so what is the best way to give aid to help out in a way that will actually get to where it needs to go.
Your pictures are lovely and moving. I appreciate all that you do to capture such images. Thank you.
Sincerely, Jill Starbridge-Kobold.
Hello Jill
This is why we organized the GPA projects. The donations were used to help the tribes. We just completed GPA Ethiopia and distributed
20,000 KG of Sohrgum and Maize
60 Liters of liquid Soap
480 bars of soap
600 Masks
12 Hand Free Taps
to the tribes in the Omo Valley. You can find all the reports from each village under the Giving Back tab at the top of this site.
