I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! I had a last minute trip to China so a few more things got pushed to the side. I have become good at becoming comfortable with – what can get done will and cannot will have to wait. Last year was a bit of a whirl wind. It was very exciting but deadlines and demands were a little over whelming at times. I realized that I would do what I could and not sweat what I could not.
I had planned to get my Christmas cards out, they didn’t make it this year. I had planned to be home for the rest of the year, that did not happen. I had planned to share my top ten images, but that did not happen. So, I thought I would start the year off sharing some of the images I took these past few days, up north, at a beautiful ranch. The beauty of the rolling hills, being surrounded by nature, and the spirit of the horses was the best way to start this new year. It was a great reminder that I need to take some time for myself , enjoy, and have fun.
The hospitably at the ranch was so genuine and sincere. We had full access to the horses so we could shoot as long as we wanted. The cafe was closed due to the holiday so the owners made us sandwiches at their home and then brought them down to us! It was a such a wonderful way to start off a new year that I am thinking of doing a small weekend workshop there at he end of April or June.
I hope your year started off great and that 2013 brings you lots of success.
along with cats and dogs, the horse is part of that group of love I have for one of God’s greatest creatures on planet earth…….you photos have symbolized the true worth of their special beauty……….thank you a million times.
Thank you Phyllis – next to Africa, horses are my other favorite animal to photograph. We have so many wonderful ranches her is Southern Ca and I need to take advantage of that. I am going to do a round up in June, just for the experience and I am really looking forward to it.
Sometimes life does not go the way we plan it, but that does not mean it is not fabulous. These images are amazing! Happy New Year!
Thank you Roxana
2013 is going to be a year of positivity and I am looking forward to all it brings!
Horses always stir something deep and ancestral in our DNA and these images bring out that love – thank you – and wishing you a wonderful year for 2013 Piper!
Thank you Peter! Horses just have such a unique spirit about them and I find when I am around them the best way to describe it is serenity.
Have an awesome 2013!
Beautiful creatures!
Thank you for sharing. Phenom close-ups 🙂
Might you share the name of the Ranch?
Wishing you continued sucess in 2013,
Mary Serantoni
Mary this was at the V-6 Ranch located between SF and LA. There are a lot of ranches throughout this area- LA-SF – all throughout wine country. Horse and wine country…hmmm someone had the right idea. One of the reasons I want to take a few others with me next time is I will be able to work up a very special program. I spent a lot of time scouting the 20,000 acres and working with the owner on interesting idea’s for to create beautiful images with unique lighting. I also want to work with people on off camera flash and unique compositions using a wide angle.
Have a wonderful 2013!
