No Strangers – at the Annenberg Space for Photography

IMG_9220 - Version 2

It is a great honor to announce that my images of the Tribes from the Omo Valley will be presented as part of the slideshow night for the “No Strangers” Exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography. The Annenberg Space for Photography is a cultural destination dedicated to exhibiting both digital and print photography in an intimate environment. The space features state-of-the-art, high-definition digital technology as well as traditional prints by some of the world’s most renowned photographers and a selection of emerging photographic talents as well. The venue, an initiative of the Annenberg Foundation and its trustees, is the first solely photographic cultural destination in the Los Angeles area, and it creates a new paradigm in the world of photography.

The current exhibit is “NO STRANGERS” ancient wisdom in a modern world, a group show about the wonder of culture and the plight of indigenous people throughout the world.  The exhibit is guest curated by esteemed anthropologist, author and National Geographic photographer Wade Davis.

Many of the photographers in the exhibit are those whom I greatly admire and have influenced my own photography. I have had the privilege to hear most them speak every Thursday over the past few months. To be apart of this show is personally one of my highest honors as a photographer.

Photographers featured in the exhibit are Carol Beckwith & Angela Fisher, Wade Davis, Chris Johns, Lynn Johnson, Steve McCurry, Randy Olson, Chris Rainier and Hamid Sardar.  Also included are Timothy Allen, Caroline Bennett, James P. Blair, Edward Burtynsky, David Hiser, Aaron Huey, Thomas Kelly, Mauricio Lima, William Fernando Martinez, James Stanfield, Brent Stirton, Amy Toensing, Jeroen Toirkens, A Yin and Gordon Wiltsie.

The slideshow event is next friday evening, February 8, from 6:30-8:30. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided to registered guests. Tickets are free but you must register here. There are only 300 tickets available and registration for the event starts Friday, Feb 1 at 12:00 noon. If you are not able to get a ticket and would like to attend, please email me. I look forward to seeing you there.
